GENERAL INTRODUCTION

Video Conference is a live video and audio communication system (including hardware and software) used between two or more people in separate locations to interact through various communication channels in real time such as: Internet, WAN, LAN. The video conference can be as simple as a conversation between two people in private offices (point-to-point) or involve several sites (multi-point) with more than one person in large rooms at different sites.

People use video conferencing when:

  • The parties of the conversation can't physically come to the same location;
  • The members of a working group need to setup a online meeting to exchange information
  • E-Learning
  • Providing medical treatment and consultations through video conferencing allows doctors to be everywhere and gives patients access to healthcare services that might not be available in their area
  • The jobs or major need to exchange audio, video information real time. For this cases video conferencing is the best choice when the distance from each party is really far, it is inconvenient to set up a meeting at the same location.

Technology

The core technology used in a videoconferencing system is digital compression of audio and video streams in real time. The hardware or software that performs compression is called a codec (coder/decoder). Video conferencing is IP based solution, support multi-protocols (H.320, H.323, SIP, SCCP) allows deploy advanced video conferencing on the exist network infrustructure.

Components

Small Meeting Room

Small Meeting Room: is equipped with 1 personal computer with the video conference software setup. This  Meeting room may be added some more external device such as: Camera, Micro, webcam… allow people attend to the point-to-point meeting or multi-points meeting arranged from the common meeting room. The components for this room as bellows:

  • Software for PC (Option: webcam, micro, LCD). This software support to point-to-point, allows the people to attend a meeting up to 3 parties
  • Or: video conference devices is build-in software, micro, camera

Large room

For each site, the components below is required for jointing to the meeting (this is also the requirement for each site need to joint to the site-to-site meeting):

  • Camera: Video input
  • Micro: Audio input
  • Codec: encoding or decoding the digital data stream (video, audio, data)
  • Monitor: Display the content of the  meeting includes: far site, near site, and the presentation data
  • Speaker- Broadcasts the audio of far site and near site
  • Sharing the presentation data- Using PC more for sharing data in the meeting

Note: The number of the device for the room above can be adjusted according the area and the number of people attending the meeting of each room

Extention component

To meet the demand of customer about the extention the quantity of site and the requirement of: recording video, audio of the meeting, the components bellows needs to add more: 

  • Storage and recoding component – stores the content of the meeting
  • MCU- multipoint control unit and some other Meeting management components: The multipoint control unit is an endpoint on the LAN that provides the capability for three or more terminals and gateways to participate in a multipoint conference: allows to setup, establish, end the meeting; chose the display layout, setup the schedule, manage the quality of the meeting….

Connection bandwidth requirement:

  • Connection bandwidth requirement for all of the link: upload  bandwidth is equal to download bandwidth
  • With the rooms are at the same location as the MCU, using the lan connection with the bandwidth at leat: 1.25 Mbps
  • With the other sites using the connection to the MCU site requires the bandwidth at least: 1.25 Mbps for HD quality transmision
  • Bandwidth at MCU site: Quantity of site x 1.25 Mbps (the bandwith requires at each site)
  • The bandwidth above is the dedicated bandwidth for video conferencing at each site, and MCU also.
  • During video conferencing transmission on the link, it is necessary to open some application port on the link, so that the customer should us the connection link such as: Leas line or Wan connection to ensure the quality of the meeting.

CCTV SOLUTION

CCTV (closed-circuit television) is a TV system in which signals are not publicly distributed but are monitored, primarily for surveillance and security purposes.

Closed-Circuit Television includes: recording, transmission, storage, allows to playback local or remotely. Beside that, the system also had controller using for PTZ camera.

Analog technology:

Analog video technology is the “classic” method of video surveillance – also known as CCTV (closed-circuit television). The analog picture data is transmitted via BNC cable from the camera to a recording system, where it is saved for display; intergrated feature: stream data on Ethernet connection, the system support to remotely monitor on smart phone, PC.

  • Pros of analog CCTV
    • Lower establish cost - In most cases, analog cameras cost less up front than IP network cameras.

  • Cons of analog CCTV
    • The limitation  of  Picture resolution
    • It is complicated in the installation when the large quantity of camera at far distance from the center, and the channels on DVR is limited.
    • Storage: is not really suitable when the quantity of cameras in the system is so large
    • The power cable is always separated from data cable.

Components of a CCTV Video Surveillance System

    • Support better for recording, storage feature with server.
  • Cons of IP CCTV system:
    • Higher cost
    • Need more knowledge on IT to setup the system
    • High bandwidth. You need a fast LAN if you are installing many due to their streaming.
